“World War II”

History: December 7, 1941

1. What countries fought against whom in WWII?
Germany. On one side were the Axis Powers, including Germany, Italy and Japan. On the other side were the Allies. The Allies included Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, the United States of America.

2. Where did WWII occur?
The WWII took place in Russia, Europe, Africa, Pacific Ocean, Asia, Middle East, Mediterranean Sea, Eurasia, Scandinavia, Southeast Asia and the Atlantic Ocean

3. Name and describe a few events that happened during WWII.
  1. Battle of Midway: Japanese armies rolled over Southeast Asia, the Philippines, and the East Indies. The war in the pacific was fought on land, at sea, and in the air. The turning point in the war the pacific came in June, 1942 at the Battles of Midway.
  2. D-Day: Allied troops in an invasion of Normandy France. They fought their way through France and Belgium and into Germany while the Russian troops fought from the east.

4. How can we honor and show respect for WWII veterans?
We can let veterans tell their stories. We can say thank you to them for what they did. We can show appreciation to the veterans families. We can be supportive towards them.
